Tis the season to be golfy
So Christmas is fast approaching and the question many of us face is what do you get the golfer who has everything?? Whether your looking for a small gift for your regular playing partner, a gift for your golfing husband, wife or for a relative who plays, I am here to offer a little advice on how to go about getting that ideal golf gift without having to resort to the dreaded diamond golf jumper or pair of golf socks.
Golfer's in my experience when receiving a present at Christmas are very impatient in using said gift, wanting to unwrap the new driver that is going to hit that 300 yard tee shot whilst charging for the freezing cold garden to swing furiously with the new cherished "weapon". With the usual weekend game now seeming weeks away a cheeky 9 holes of Christmas Day golf is certainly not unheard of amongst hardened golfers so my advice would be to try and buy a gift that’s specific to this time of year (unless of course It is hardware such as clubs). There are many items that are essential to golfers at this time of year from very minor stocking fillers such as Disposable Hand Warmers and woolly hats to more substantial products like waterproof golf shoes and waterproof suits, all of which will be most certainly used and shown off the following weekend down at the golf course to the recipients playing partners. Below I have provided you a Top 5 list for smaller "winter specific" golf gifts to help you.
- 1) Footjoy Greenjoy Golf Shoes
- 2) Mizuno Scratch Sac Golf Bag
- 3) Srixon Z-Star Dozen Golf Balls
- 4) Ping Tour 62” Umbrella
- 5) Ping Winter Mitts (Pair)
As an InsureGolf PGA Professional and back in the day a keen junior golfer I of course have received many golf related Christmas gifts throughout the years. The joy a new golf club or set can bring for the following weeks and year are almost tangible and can inspire and motivate golfers throughout the winter months to keep on striding those frost ridden fairways, experimenting and testing the new piece of acquired equipment thoroughly with each round played. Purchasing golf equipment for somebody else however can be extremely difficult especially if you are not yourself an avid golfer which is why I would seriously consider looking at our gift voucher section of the store. With shaft flex, loft angle, and model of club all an area which can be easily misunderstood, buying a gift voucher removes the disappointment of unwrapping a club with the incorrect specifications and having to go through a returns procedure. If however you have decided you do want a specific product to be opened on the day I would certainly advise not buying blind and to consult your intended recipient to obtain the correct club description and specifications required. Of course for further help we are always on hand to offer you advice and information if you do not understand some of the golf terms used or golf equipment related specifications. You can contact us through either our Contact Us page or by giving us a call using the above telephone number. Below I have listed my Top 5 desired Premium products to give you an idea what is hot at the moment within golfing circles.
- 1) TaylorMade R11 Driver
- 2) Ping G20 Driver
- 3) Ping Scottsdale Putter
- 4) Ping 4 Series Carry Stand Bag
- 5) Nike Everclear Putter
Finally let us not forget the kids! Christmas as I found out is a great time to start a new hobby with a gleaming set of "mini" kids clubs. We stock a full range of quality children's equipment specific for various ages to determine the correct size of both clubs and golf bag. Technology has come on leaps and bounds when it comes to junior clubs, when I used to play as a youngster heavy, cut down men’s clubs made golf difficult and hard work. Nowadays however extremely lightweight, flexible graphite shafts with lightweight clubheads make hitting a 60 yard high floating 7-iron a piece of cake at even 6 years old!! Plastic airflow balls are also available and recommended to keep your house safe from stray Christmas day garden shots, coming in various different bright colours. As a member of a keen golfing family and a former junior golfer I cannot recommend enough encouraging your children to take up golf especially if you play yourself. There is something very special about enjoying a round of golf with your family that no other sport I feel can offer. At superbly low prices a quality junior set of golf clubs is a cracking Christmas present for your youngster.
From all of us here at InsureGolf we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
